a doll for our girl

my sweet friend, elise, sent me the cutest text yesterday and i just couldn't resist sharing here. {so, friends, i guess this is a little warning that any text message may end up on this blog...i seem to be doing that a lot lately, sorry in advance. you're just all too much, i have to share your sweet words}.

she was out shopping and walked past this little doll and couldn't resist sending me a picture because of the uncanny resemblance to our S. anyone who has seen our girl's photo can attest to her gorgeous big, brown eyes.

when Ben saw the picture he said, "ooh, S!"

and, then, she followed it with this...

now, please, please do not misinterpret this. i in absolutely NO WAY think that our S was "not wanted". i know that her birthmom made a selfless decision in order to give her girl a better life. she lives in the what is consistently ranked as one of the poorest country in. the. world. the oppression of poverty there is unimaginable. her birth country is ranked in the top five for violence against women. little girls do not have a bright future there. she is so loved that she is going to be joining our family here in the united states. where freedom and justice is a part of our way of life. and she is very deeply wanted and loved.

even though this receipt in no way represents our girl's status of being loved and wanted and cherished...it makes me smile to think that this little doll will also find a new home with us and she will be loved and hugged and cherished by our S when she gets home. this little doll will join our family in waiting anxiously for S to be home forever.

i can't help but love that thought. :)
